MaineHousing’s Homeless Initiative Department will be holding an online information session for any agencies that are interested in applying for the Emergency Shelter and Housing Assistance Program (ESHAP) for the first time in 2026. Attendance at this information session will be a prerequisite to application; interested agencies must have a representative attend in order to be eligible to apply.
ESHAP provides funding to homeless shelters and homeless service providers throughout the state of Maine. ESHAP uses federal Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding combined with state funding to provide grants that support emergency shelter operations and the employment of Housing Navigators. Housing Navigators provide support to people experiencing homelessness, assisting them to find safe, affordable, appropriate housing and maintain housing stability once housed.
The information session will review the federal and state requirements for all agencies who wish to receive grants through this program. Attendees will be provided with a welcome packet which may be used to guide their preparations should they choose to apply. The agency representative should be in a position to revise or introduce agency policies, or propose policy changes as necessary. Attendance will be taken, and representatives are expected to stay for the duration of the session. This session will be held via Microsoft Teams on September 8, 2025 at 10AM.
