    Affordable Housing Working Group updates Legislature
    MaineHousing and its partners are making progress in implementing three recommendations presented last year by the Maine Affordable Housing Working Group and enacted by the Legislature. We recently gave this update to the Joint Standing Committee on Labor, Commerce, Research, and Economic Development.

    Property Management Training Course starts March 7
    The Property Management Training Course offered at Southern Maine Community College is an ideal way to prepare yourself or your new hires for a career in the industry! A new class begins March 7, and covers these topics: administrative, occupancy and legal, financial, resident satisfaction, and physical plant. MaineHousing is proud to have helped launch this course two years ago, and to be a part of the instruction process.

    2017 Invitation for Proposals for a Retirement Plan Advisor
    MaineHousing is requesting proposals from a qualified firm or individual for professional Retirement Plan Advisor services. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 31st, 2017 @ 5pm.

    2016 MaineHousing Accomplishments
    In 2016, MaineHousing continued to be a leader in financing affordable housing development, providing First Home Loans to first-time homebuyers and military, and serving lower-income families with their housing and heating needs. Also, we provided drought relief, weatherized homes, and helped hundreds of individuals work to achieve housing stability. Here’s a snapshot of our accomplishments!

    2017 Low Income Housing Tax Credits results
    Six developers will share approximately $3 million in 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits to build or rehabilitate 290 units of affordable family and elderly housing in Auburn, Ellsworth, Westbrook, Lewiston, Gardiner, and Scarborough. These projects received the most points in the competitive 2017 Qualified Allocation Plan scoring process.
