The stress of the home-buying process is over and you’re all moved in to your new home. You can finally sit down and relax! That is, until you’re faced with an unexpected homeownership challenge and on your way to the store for a solution.
As part of our First Home Loan marketing campaign, we asked our Facebook fans what they never dreamed of rushing to the store for. Keep reading to see what they said; it may just save you an unplanned trip to the store – or bring back memories of your first days in your new home!
Around the House
You think you have everything you could possibly need for your new home. Then you find that something you expected to come with the house did not. Next you’re online researching how to get rid of the water in your basement or the flying squirrels in your attic.
These are just a few of the strange challenges you may face as a new homeowner. This list will give you an idea of some surprising items you might want to have on hand for these problems and more:
- Flea bombs
- Fire extinguishers
- Heart trap
- Light bulbs
- Duct tape
- Window blinds
- Window screens
- PVC pipe
Here’s what some of our Facebook fans had to say about the items they never dreamed of purchasing for their new homes!
Hopefully you’ve got all your towels, soap, and toilet paper already. Here are some of the unthought-of, handier bathroom items you might have overlooked throughout all of your packing and shopping:
- Plumbing tools
- Toilet paper holders
- Non-slip stickers for the bathtub
- Drain catcher for the shower
- Toilet wax ring
- Caulk for the shower stall
Take it from the homeowners who have rushed to the store for these things – it’s much easier to have them on hand ahead of time!
What more could you possibly need in the kitchen than food and cooking supplies? Just a few things! These cleaning supplies will help you handle unexpected messes and clogs in the sink:
- Swiffer sweeper
- Clorox wipes
- Drain snake
These homeowners learned it’s better to be prepared for a mess than to be running to the store once the mess has been made!
Hopefully with this list you can better expect the unexpected as a new homeowner! Let us know if we missed anything in the comments below.
