Lead Related Disclosures

Landlords, property management companies, real estate agencies, and home sellers are required by law to tell potential occupants if they know that a home contains lead-based paint or lead paint hazards.

An informational brochure developed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S.Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) -- Protect Your Family from Lead in Your Home, must be provided to the tenant or homebuyer prior to lease up or sale.

Written disclosures statements are also required. Copies of disclosure forms and associated requirements are available from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Learn More.
