MaineHousing offers programs and services that make decent, safe housing more affordable and accessible to Maine people. Over 90,000 Maine households will benefit from MaineHousing assistance this year.
Our policies and priorities also include making the most of every dollar spent on affordable housing. Where feasible, MaineHousing activities achieve multiple public purposes with the same investment. By requiring that new affordable housing developments meet Green Building Standards, for example, MaineHousing ensures that the housing is more energy efficient, better for the environment, and healthier for the occupants. By requiring developers of housing projects over a certain size to offer on the job training for women and minorities, we are working toward a more diverse workforce and prosperous economy.
