Gift of Green initiative changing
December 1
Effective December 1 the Gift of Green initiative will provide eligible first-time homebuyers with a grant of $2,500 to help with the cash needed for closing, plus a coupon worth $500 towards a two-part home energy audit. Combining the Gift of Green with the federal tax credit for eligible first-time homebuyers and with federal tax credits for energy improvements can provide total incentives of up to $12,500.

23,000 households already benefitting from LIHEAP this season
Benefit payments totaling over $21 million already have been sent to provide heating assistance to more than 23,000 low-income Maine households – more than half of the 40,600 households who have applied so far.
