MaineHousing awarded additional $1.5 mil in Recovery Act funds
The Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded MaineHousing an additional $1.5 million in Recovery Act funds to assist in developing affordable rental housing. ARRA Weatherization helps 4,722 homes
As of April 2011, MaineHousing had financed the weatherization of 4,722 low-income homes through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). That is well over the goal of weatherizing 4,427 homes set when the program started 18 months ago, and well before the federally mandated program deadline of 3/31/2012.

Chevrolet to purchase MaineHousing carbon reductions
Chevrolet has signed a letter of intent to purchase the carbon savings associated with MaineHousing's Weatherization Program. This will be MaineHousing's first carbon sale using its newly verified methodology to quantify the carbon savings associated with home Weatherization. The revenues generated will be used to weatherize more Maine homes.

HUD presents award for HMIS to Maine
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) presented MaineHousing and Maine's three Continuums -- City of Portland Continuum of Care, Balance of State Continuum of Care, and Greater Penobscot Continuum of Care -- with an award for their work with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The award recognizes Maine’s use of HMIS data to improve service delivery and enhance local planning efforts.
